so you want to get the best thermostat, eh?  well, once you delve into the world of thermostats, you’re going to find a veritable cornucopia of choices from whence to make your selection.  i’m a big fan of the ip thermostats, but if you’re not into computers or aren’t that tech savvy, you’re probably not going to like them.  if that’s the case, go with a honeywell 8000 which has a digital touchscreen and has a ton of programming options.  If you go the internet route, ecobee has some cool ones (and an iPhone app you can use to control it) and Proliphix is one of the top names in the business and their units are generally well regarded.
