My grandmother was a forward thinker and years ahead of her time.  When other ladies of her generation were only worried about whiter whites and serving dinner on time, my Gran was talking about choosing a life that is fulfilling.  She was well educated and believed that everyone, especially her granddaughter, could do anything they wanted.  But Gran always said that where we go in life begins with the journey within.  She taught me to pay attention to who I really was and really wanted, then let that guide me.  Thanks to that wise woman, I became an artist and have a wonderful life.  There is a little bit of my grandmother in everything I think or do, and that is a very good thing.
