Hospital based laboratories frequently have job openings for the medical laboratory assistant. In the hospital lab, the assistant may work under the guidance of a medical lab technologist and have varied job duties. Different departments in the lab such as the chemistry department, often have job openings. Since hospital labs are open 24 hours a day, and seven days a week, scheduling is usually flexible. In the hospital where I work, I know quite a few assistants who choose to work the early morning schedule, because they still are able to enjoy most of the day when they complete their work day.
